“REST ASSURED”
Cleaning Protocols
Cleanliness is core to our business and part of our everyday routine. We have been recognized by AAA Travel as delivering excellence in housekeeping. Unlike vacation rental properties, we employ full time daily cleaning staff to ensure that the hotel environment is actively being thoroughly sanitized and kept spotless for our guests.
Our cleaning protocols are based on Department of Health and AHLA’s “Safe Stay” guidelines.

What are the best beaches on Martha’s Vineyard?
One of the many reasons to visit Martha’s Vineyard is for its un-spoilt and scenic beaches. Some beaches are open to the public year-round and some beaches are restricted in summer to town residents and summer visitors staying in the town where the beach is located. Here are some of our favorites:
East Beach (Chappaquiddick) – Public beach located in Cape Pogue Wildlife Refuge. This stunning beach stretches for miles and gives you the feeling you’ve reached the end of the earth.
South Beach (Edgartown) – Public beach at Katama. Three miles of beach and excellent surfing.
Tashmoo Town Beach (Vineyard Haven) – Public beach at entrance to Lake Tashmoo. A bumpy ride to get down to the beach and only limited parking. Views across to Woods Hole.
Lucy Vincent Beach (Chilmark) – Chilmark residents only in summer. Can be accessed by all off-season.
Lambert’s Cove Beach (West Tisbury) – A gorgeous semi-circular cove. West Tisbury residents only until 5pm in July & August.
Owen Park Beach (Vineyard Haven) – Small public beach from where you can watch the ferries and yachts coming in and out of the harbor.
Long Point Wildlife Refuge (West Tisbury) – Public beach on the south shore. SUP and kayak rentals available in summer.
State Beach (Oak Bluffs) – Public beach with two miles of sandy beach. Take the opportunity to jump off “Jaw’s Bridge”
Lobsterville Beach (Aquinnah) – Public beach with sandy dunes. Great views across Vineyard Sound and excellent fishing. No parking on Lobsterville Road so best to take the bike ferry across from Menemsha (Summer only).
Gay Head Public Beach (Aquinnah) – Public beach with excellent surfing. Clothing optional section.
Eastville Beach (Oak Bluffs/Vineyard Haven) – Public beach close to Lagoon Bridge.

Which towns allow alcohol to be served?
The only “dry” town left on Martha’s Vineyard is Chilmark. You can, however, take your own drinks into the restaurants there and they will serve them for you for a corkage fee. Edgartown, Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs are “wet” with all alcohol (spirits, wine and beer) available in restaurants, bars. West Tisbury and Aquinnah are “damp”. In these towns only beer and wine can be purchased when ordering food at any of the cafes and restaurants.
Where can I buy alcohol?
There are liquor stores in Oak Bluffs and Edgartown.

Alternatively mopeds and bicycles are available for rent and there are many bike routes around the island.

Is Nobnocket Boutique Inn close to restaurants?
Yes, the inn is within walking distance of some of the best restaurants (Beach Road, Salvatore’s, The Attic, Garde East and the world famous Black Dog Tavern) on the island. The Art Cliff Diner is the undisputed spot for breakfast on Martha’s Vineyard. The owner/chef used to be the chef for the US President’s guests.
Can I walk to the inn from the ferry?
Yes, the inn is 0.5 mile from the ferry terminal, so a 10 minute walk. It is an uphill walk to the inn, as the inn is located on a bluff, so if with bags we’d suggest hopping in one of the waiting cabs.

It’s all explained here on the blog (did I mention the James Taylor connection?)
Nobnocket – The Name
What is the best time of year to visit Martha’s Vineyard?
The warmest weather is in July and August but that is also when the island is at its busiest so traveling around the island can take time due to the increase in traffic. May, June & September all have good weather, all restaurants and shops are open and the roads and beaches are less busy. October is a great month for the outdoors and catching the color changes on warm afternoons before the cooler nights move in. March is Martha’s Film Festival month and a great excuse to be hobnobbing with the film crowd up from NYC. There is less happening Nov-Feb with the towns of Edgartown and Oak Bluffs closing down. Vineyard Haven stays open with restaurants and shops continuing to do business through the winter.
What famous people live on Martha’s Vineyard?
Now that would be telling! Why not come and visit and do your own celeb-spotting!
What is the “Community Impact Fee”?
The Community Impact Fee is a way for guests staying at the Nobnocket to give back to the local community to support actions being taken to maintain the fragile eco-system on Martha’s Vineyard. In partnership with Kind Traveler’s “Every Stay Gives Back” program we collect a nightly fee of $3 that is passed on 100% to the Lagoon Pond Association (LPA). The Lagoon Pond Association is working to restore the water quality, biodiversity, aquaculture and eco-systems in Lagoon Pond. The inn is located close to Lagoon Pond and is proud to support the initiatives of the LPA to maintain and sustain this critical body of water.
